Charlie Albright Some of the best rendering of the Psalms set to music I have heard. Love the richness of the songs that I can listen to again and again to be encouraged afresh, with something new, each time. Favorite track: Beautiful - Psalm 16 (feat. Layne Victoria).

1.
Of David. 1 Bless the LORD, O my soul; All in me bless his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul; Don’t forget all his benefits: 3 Who forgives all of your sins, Who heals all your sicknesses, 4 Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with care and love, 5 Satisfies your life with good, Like an eagle your youth renews. 6 The LORD works righteousness, Justice for all who are oppressed. 7 His own ways, his great deeds, He showed Moses and Israel’s sons. 8 Gracious is the LORD and kind, Slow to anger, full of love; 9 He will not continue to strive. Anger he will not preserve, 10 Or give what our sins deserve; He won’t pay us back for our crimes. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is his steadfast love to those who fear him. 12 And as far as the east is distant from the west, So far does he take our sins away from us. 13 As the love that a father sets upon his children, So the love of the LORD upon all those who fear him. 14 For he knows our frame; He remembers we are dust. 15 Like the grass are man’s days; He grows like flowers of the field. 16 When the wind blows on him, His place knows him no more; he’s gone. 17 But for those who fear the LORD, Evermore to evermore, He will show his steadfast love, Righteousness to sons of sons, 18 Those who keep his covenant, Who remember to do his word. 19 For the LORD in the heavens has established his throne, And the LORD, his own kingdom governs over all things. 20 Bless the LORD, angels and you mighty who do his word; Bless the LORD as you listen to the voice of his word. 21 Bless the LORD, all his hosts and servants who do his will; 22 Bless the LORD, all his works in all the places he rules. Bless the LORD, O my soul; bless the LORD, O my soul!

A Song of Ascents. Of David. 1 Look, how good and pleasant it is When brothers dwell together When brothers dwell together In unity! 2 It is like fine oil poured On the head and flowing down To the hair of Aaron’s beard, To the corner of his robes. 3 It is like Mount Hermon’s dew On Zion’s mountain flowing down, For that is where the LORD commanded the blessing, Life forevermore!
3.
A Psalm of David. 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, Leads me by still waters, 3 Brings back my soul. He guides me in right paths for his name. 4 Though I walk through the valley, The shadow of death, No evil will make me afraid. For you are there with me; Your rod and your staff, They surely will comfort me. 5 A table before me You have prepared, In the presence of all who oppose me. You’ve blessed me with oil Poured on my head. My cup is filled over and over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy Will chase after me For all of the days of my life, And I will return to The house of the LORD To dwell there for endless days.

Chorus 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the LORD, “My refuge And my fort; my God I trust.” 3 For he’ll save you from the fowler’s snare, From the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his pinions; You’ll take refuge under his wings. And his truth is a shield and buckler; 5 You will never be afraid. Not of terror that comes at nighttime, Nor by day of the arrow’s flight. 6 Not of plague that walks in darkness, Nor disease that destroys when the sun is at its height. Chorus 7 A thousand may fall beside you, And ten thousand at your right. It won’t come near to you; 8you will only look, See the wicked repaid in your sight. 9 For you made the LORD your refuge, The Most High my dwelling place. 10 No evil will come upon you. Near your tent will come no plague. 11 For his angels he will command for you, To guard you in all your ways. 12 They will lift you up on their hands, So that even a stone your foot will never graze. Chorus 13 You will tread on the lion and adder, Trample serpents, lions young. 14 He has loved me, so I will save him, Him exalt; for he knows my name. 15 When he calls to me I will answer him; In distress I am with him. I will rescue him and honor him, 16 Fill him up with long life, my salvation show to him.

1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of The wicked ones, who do what’s wrong And in the way of sinners does not stand, in the seat of scoffers He does not, does not sit. 2 Instead, in the law of Yahweh is his delight, And in his law he meditates by day and night. He is like a planted tree on streams of water which brings Its fruit in time; its leaf won’t dry. And in all he does he prospers, 4 but the wicked— Instead like chaff they fly; away the wind drives. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For Yahweh, He knows, He knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked perishes.

A Miktam of David. 1 Preserve me, O God, for in you I hide. 2 Unto the LORD, I say “You are my Lord.” I have no good apart from you. 3 The saints in the land are the excellent ones; All my joy is in them. 4 They multiply their sorrows – Those chasing other gods. Their drink off’rings of blood I will not pour out, Or take their names on my lips. 5 The LORD is my portion; my heritage and my cup. You hold my lot; 6 the lines have fallen for me In pleasant places; yes, I have an inheritance that is Beautiful! 7 I bless the LORD who counsels me; And in the night my heart teaches me. 8 I’ve set the LORD before me always; And now because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved! 9 My heart therefore is glad; my glory exults. My flesh also now is dwelling secure. 10 For you won’t leave my soul to Sheol Or let your godly one see the pit. 11 The pathway of life you make known unto me; In your presence, there is fullness of joy. And at your right hand, there are pleasures that last forevermore; evermore!

A Psalm of Asaph. 1 God is truly good To Israel, to the pure in heart. 2 But as for me, my feet had nearly slipped, And my steps had almost tripped. 3 For I coveted arrogant and wicked men. Saw their peace, 4 they have no pain in death, their bodies fat, 5 without The cares others have. Never struck like other men; 6 Pride around their necks, clothed in violence, 7 fatness from Their eyes swelling. Hearts flow over with folly; 8 Still they mock, speaking loftily, speaking evil and Oppression. 9 Set their mouth against heaven, Strut their tongue upon the earth, 10 but people turn and see no wrong 11 And they say, "How can God know?" And, "Is there knowledge in the Most High?" 12 Behold, these wicked always live at ease; They make their riches increase. 13 All in vain I have kept my heart clean, Washed my hands in innocence, 14 because all the day long I am struck; every morning I’m rebuked. 15 If I said that this is how I’ll speak see then I’d betray Your children, of a generation. 16 And I thought, "How can I understand?", but I was overwhelmed. 17 Until I went to God’s holy place, And then I understood how they will end. 18 You surely set them in a place to slip; You make them fall to ruin. 19 How desolate they become in a moment! They will end, swept away by terrors. 20 Like awakening From a dream is the LORD in arousing; You despise them as just a shadow. 21 But when my heart Was bitter, when my soul was cut apart, 22 Such a fool, knowing nothing, I was like a beast to you. 23 But I am constantly with you; you are holding my right hand. 24 You guide me with your counsel, then You take me to glory; 25 whom have I in heav’n? I want none on earth but you; 26 though my heart and flesh may fail, But God is the Rock of my heart; he’s my portion evermore. 27 For see those far from you will die, all untrue; you will end them. 28 But as for me, God’s nearness is my good. In the LORD God I take refuge, That I may tell all your works. 1a Oh God is truly good!
8.
Of David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away. 1 I will bless the LORD continually; At all times his praise is in my mouth. 2 In the LORD my soul will boast; Let the humble hear and celebrate. 3 Magnify the LORD with me, Together lift up his name! 4 I sought the LORD; he answered me, And from all my fears he delivered me. 5 Those who look to him will shine; Never shall their face be shamed. 6 This poor man cried; the LORD heard him, And saved him from all his woes. 7 The angel of the LORD camps round, And delivers those who fear him. 8 Oh taste and see that the LORD, he is good! Blessed is the man who in him takes refuge! 9 Fear the LORD, you his saints; those who fear him have no lack. 10 Young lions, they hunger and lack, But those who seek the LORD, they lack no good. 11 O come, O children, listen to me; I will teach to you the fear of the LORD. 12 Who’s the man who desires life, Loving many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep your tongue from evil things; Your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Turn from wrong, and do what’s good; Pursue and seek after peace! 15 The LORD’s eyes are on those who do right, And his ears are inclined to hear their cry. 16 But the face of the LORD is against those who do wrong, So that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth. 17 The LORD hears when righteous ones, they cry, And saves them from all of their woes. 18 The LORD will be near to the broken heart, The crushed in spirit He saves, He saves! 19 The righteous one he will have many woes, But the LORD will save him from them all! 20 He will keep all his bones; and not one of them will break. 21 Affliction will slay wicked men, And those who hate the righteous will be condemned. 22 The LORD redeems his servants' life; None who hide in him are condemned.
9.
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. 1 LORD, you have searched me and known me; 2 You know when I sit and when I rise up. You discern my thoughts from a long way off; 3 You search out my path and lying down. You are familiar with all my ways; 4 Before I speak, LORD, you know all that I say. 5 You bind me front and back, lay on me your hand. 6 Such is knowledge far too great for me— High above where I could never reach. 7 Where shall I go without your Spirit there? Where shall I flee your presence? 8 If I ascend to heaven you are there; If I sleep in the grave you are there. 9 If on the wings of the sunrise I fly and dwell at the end of the sea, 10 Even there your hand shall be leading me, And your right hand shall lay hold of me. 11 If I say, "Darkness will cover me; The light behind me will surely be as night." 12 Even there the dark is not dark to you. For the night is bright as in the day; Darkness is as light, one and the same! 13 For you have knit me in my mother's womb; You formed my inward parts. 14 I will praise you for fearful, wondrous work; Wonderful are your works, my soul knows well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, When in the secret You wove me deep in earth. 16 Your eyes looked upon my substance yet unformed. In your book were written all my days; They were formed when none had taken place! 17 How precious are your thoughts to me, O God; How countless is their sum. 18 If I should count, still they are more than sand. I awake, and still, I am with you. 19 If only you would slay the wicked, O God! Men of blood leave me, 20 malicious, cursing enemies! 21 I hate all those who hate you, LORD, detest your rising foes! 22 I hate with perfect hate; they are my enemies! 23 O Search me, O God, and know what’s in my heart; Try me and know my thoughts. 24 See if there be a grievous way in me; Lead me in the way eternal.
10.
1 Don’t upset yourself because of evil men; Don’t be envious of those who do wrong. 2 For they soon will fade like the grass, And they wither away like green herbs. 3 Trust in the LORD; do what is good. Dwell in the land; feed upon faith. 4 Delight in the LORD, and he will give you The desires of your heart. 5 Roll your path away and put it on the LORD. Trust him; he will act. 6 And he will bring forth Your righteousness like the light, And your rightful cause like midday. 7 Don’t make a sound in the LORD’s presence. Settle yourself to wait upon him. And don’t be upset when man’s way succeeds, And when he makes his plans. 8 Put your rage aside, and let your anger go. Don’t upset yourself; it leads only to harm. 9 For those who do wrong are cut off, But those who wait for God own the land. 10 It won’t be long ‘til there are no wicked. Look at his place; he is not there. 11 The meek own the land, and they take delight In abundance of peace.
